1920년부터 1950년까지, 그리스 전통 민요와 춤곡을 레코딩으로 남긴 소중한 인류 문화적 유산. 이 시기는 그리스가 또 한 번의 내란과 전쟁의 혼란을 겪은 후 민족 문화의 자긍심을 스스로 고취하던 시기에 남겨진 것으로서 유독 그리스적인 음악 양태가 강조되던 시기이기도 하다. 또한 당시에는 민중 문화의 일부였던 렘베티코가 전폭적으로 지지를 받으며 그리스를 대표하는 월드 뮤직으로 자리잡던 시기인데, 이 음반에 이 렘베티코의 역사가 고스란히 담겨져 있으며 이후 라이코의 기초가 된다. 월드 뮤직 골수 매니아들을 위한 추천 음반.
